Bio

Ella Scheerlinck began with abstract painting in 2018 in her home studio in Aalst. In 2021 she started at the painting atelier of the Academy of Fine Arts in Aalst to develop herself artistically and deepen her visual language.

Her work emerges from an attentive and intuitive way of looking.
Each image is carefully composed from self made photographs, unless otherwise started. For her, figurative expression is an impression of what you see, not what you think you are supposed to see: a fleeting glance that makes you pause.

That personal interpretation says more about the viewer than about the person who created the image. Figurative expression brings to the surface what cannot be ignored.
